ABSTRACT

Estudo descritivo, exploratório, que objetivou identificar os motivos referidos por mulheres mastectomizadas para o surgimento de linfedema no membro superior homolateral à cirurgia. Desenvolvido no Núcleo de Ensino, Pesquisa e Assistência na Reabilitação de Mastectomizadas da Escola de Enfermagem da Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo, com 32 mulheres mastectomizadas, por meio de entrevista e de um questionário em forma de check list, em 2005. Os motivos por elas referidos relacionam-se a: esforço físico exagerado, à própria cirurgia, radioterapia, calor excessivo no braço, falta de orientação para prevenção do linfedema e problemas com o dreno. Concluiu-se que a maioria das mulheres tem dificuldade de relacionar o aparecimento do linfedema com alguns de seus fatores predisponentes. É necessário que os profissionais da saúde despendam esforços na prática educativa das mulheres mastectomizadas, visando à prevenção e controle do linfedema de braço.

ABSTRACT

The aims of this study was to identify the impact of nursing management for the women after their admission to the hospital who suffering from physical problems after radical mastectomy because of breast cancer and their use to chemotherapy or radiation. A field study was carried out at the surgical wards of the medical -city in Baghdad during the period from January 2000 to January 2003 of [20] women after a radical mastectomy because of breast cancer and they admitted to the hospital after complain from lymph edema at the some side of the operation and after their use of chemotherapy or radiation. After their admission to the hospital initial nursing assessment do for each women to identify their physical problems from the complication, and after providing them the nursing management daily in scientific method for three week and according to each problem of each one, an evaluate was mad to for their physical problems after this period. The results of this evaluation showed that about [80%] of these women become better and their physical condition was improved. According to the finding the study recommended further study carried out at more women which they suffer from the some problems during their ward admission for the purposive treatment
